Streetsville, "The Village in the City"

Home of the Streetsville Tigers, this village is nestled in the northwestern part of Mississauga, it was settled in 1819 by Timothy Street. His original home still exists in its original place right beside the Credit River. The village boasts its unique historical boutiques , residential homes, and churches. The home of the Bread and Honey festival is held annually on the first weekend of June, it brings in large crowds with its annual parade and carnival in the Streetsville memorial park, also known as Vic Johnston arena. The arena, baseball diamond, and park is very picturesque as the Credit River runs through it, and it draws anglers to come mainly in the fall to catch Salmon or Steelhead fish. The Mississauga Santa Claus parade is also hosted in Streetsville every year.
Streetsville real estate has become a very popular area for people to live in. With great schools, plenty of amenities around, and a majority of it's residents living in 2-storey detached homes, thousands of families have made Streetsville their home. There are also pockets of townhouses scattered in the big detached subdivisions. Average household income is almost $90,000/year.
The demographics in Streetsville are extremely mixed, a tossed salad and the definition of diversity. Every time I go to a restaurant, I see many different cultures all getting along with each other. That's why I love living in Mississauga, growing up in the education system in Mississauga, I got first hand experience in what it meant to grow up with cultures from all over the world and at the same time, we're all Canadians. I'm proud to be Canadian, and even more so that I get to live in the diversity that I am exposed to.
Many of the houses in the surrounding area of Streetsville are 4-bedroom detached homes with double car garages. In the Vista Heights subdivision that is slightly west of downtown Streetsville, many of the homes are slightly older with a variety of bungalows, semi-detached, back/side-split detached homes. To the south of downtown Streetsville, Erin Centre blvd. runs through a wonderful neighbourhood that have large detached homes that run well over $750,000 with 2 and 3 car garages.
To the east on the other side of the Credit River is a plethora of 2-storey homes, schools, baseball diamonds and the River Grove Community Centre.
